Survey Result Summary
SURVEY RESULTS
Thank you to those of you that completed the survey.
This was the first time that we have run a survey, and the results were interesting although some of the comments were a bit cryptic.
We will endeavour to run another survey at the end of the season, which hopefully have more room for comments and suggestions. This will also allow us time to make changes to the programme if required.
For those of you wondering why there was only ten questions it was simply a matter of cost. We get ten questions for free. Any more than that and we have to pay.
1. Information Booklet
Vast majority agreed that the booklet was helpful in its current format, with only one person disagreeing.
2. Receipt of information regarding Colgate Games, Canterbury Champs, Competitions run by Canterbury in Timaru and Sub Centre meetings (Rose Shield, Arthur cup the events specified.
Only a small minority reported that they didn’t receive enough or timely information
However for the athlete and parent to get the most fun and enjoyment out of athletics they should be aware of what is happening and when. We are working on ways to resolve this situation.
These events are not run directly by the club, so the only information we know at the start of the season is the date, which we put in the programme. The rest of the information we forward out as soon as it comes to hand.
3. 5 Star awards programme
This is a New Zealand standard programme and the charts are printed and sent to us.
If anyone is confused, unsure how to read them, don’t be afraid to ask.
The main thing to do is keep a record of your child’s performances so that they can monitor their improvements throughout the season. Praise them when they do well and encourage them to always do their best.
4. Wednesday night training.
For now the start time for Wednesday training will remain a 6pm.
There were some interesting comments relating to this question which.
However most of the perceived problems relating to the children’s training could be eliminated with more parental help.
To the senior athletes, please remember that you were young once, and it is the parents of theses junior athletes that officiate at your events.
5. Are you interested in helping?
A large majority of responders said that they were willing to help, which was really great.
The only problem is, that this is an anonymous survey so we don’t know who you are.
6. Sub Centre meetings on Sunday (Rose shield & Arthur Cup)
The preference here was to change the Sub Centre meeting to a Saturday, with the possibility of moving the club competition to Wednesday night.
This idea has merit and it something that we will have to discuss with the other clubs involved.
7. Receipt of information.
The most popular was via email followed by verbally from the convenors on Wednesday/Saturday.
8. Web Site
It was nice to see that people use the web site.
This is a work in progress and will only get better.
9. Parent Roster
As you will no doubt be aware the roster has been done for the entire season.
Thank you to all those of you who have put your names forward.
Have a read of it, and the earlier you let us know if you can’t make it, the easier it is to get a replacement.
10. Club Champs
The major concern with the club champs was the limiting of the number of events that an athlete could enter.
To rectify this, to be fair to the competing athletes, and to ensure the greatest participation in all events the committee will look at rescheduling the Club champs to be run over two consecutive Saturdays, with the possibility of using a Wednesday night depending on numbers. Dates to be advised.
