Timaru walker Daniel Lord and shot putter Tom Walsh have been named in the Athletics New Zealand team to contest the trans-Tasman 21 test match against Australia.
The talented pair will compete on Saturday, February 20 at Douglas Track and Field in Waitakere.
Nicola Mackle has also been invited and will compete in high jump, while former South Canterbury athlete Kieran Fowler was also named in the team, competing in the discus.
The test match, for athletes 21 years and under, is aimed at filling a gap in competition at the international level.
Athletics Australia has reduced the size of its team from the original 45 athletes, but Athletics New Zealand has named almost a full compliment.
In addition to those named in the New Zealand team, Athletics New Zealand has put together a list of invited athletes to fill spare positions in the events and that is where Mackle comes into the equation.
